Johnny used to fly helicopters. Now he writes about them, as well as about travel with a wheelchair and any mobility aids that attract his attention. He’s a published author and, over the years, has written hundreds of articles and newsletters for and about the aerospace industry.
To be frank, 30-plus years since he last flew “up front”, he has still not fully come to terms with being unable to pursue a job that appears really complicated to the uninitiated but, once you get the hang of it, actually isn’t. A bit like arc-welding, he imagines. The problem is that as a pilot, if you’re working to the limit of your skills, life can become difficult for others too.
